This morning, our school held a Remembrance Day service in the gym. Our class recited this poem with the other students after the Two Minute Silence.

Our class has been visiting the Veterans Canada link to learn about how animals helped out during the wars. They were excited to hear how pigeons, bears, mice, dogs, cats and more worked to help the soldiers. Some acted as companions, while others carried messages and supplies or were used to warn of poisonous gases in tunnels. Check out the different topics at the top of the page to read all about it.

Gr 1 Mac Picture Match: Beginning Sounds and Vowel Sounds

Today our class got more practice with the number line from 1 to 20. One student placed the apple on a number I suggested, and another child moved it to 1 more, 2 more, 1 less, or 2 less.

Grade 1 Mac continues to be busy learning about numbers from 1 to 20. Here the students are investigating how many smooth green rocks are in each dish and recording their findings. In order to complete the activity, they also needed to identify the numbers and the number words.
