The grade 8 students will be heading to Hopewell Rocks and Fundy National Park on Friday June 10th. This will be the year end trip for the grade 8 students in recognition of their successful completion of K-8. Everyone at Nelson Rural is very proud of all the grade 8 students and wish them all the best as they enter the next phase in their academc career!!

Nelson Rural School recently hosted the Regional Heritage Fair on May 26th. Projects from from various District 16 schools were on display for students, staf, and parents to view and enjoy!

On May 19th the District 16 Turnaround Achievement Awards were handed out at the Rodd Miramichi. Nelson Rural grade 8 student McKenzie C. received this tremendous honour. Everyone at Nelson Rural is very proud of McKenzie as he has made a significant change in his academic career!!
On Friday, May 20th at 8:30 the students and staff of Nelson Rural School will participate in an In motion Walkathon. We hope that Kristy & Sydney Stewart, our ROE mom and baby as well as Cynthia Hillier, our ROE instructor will also join us. This event will raise awareness of the Roots of Empathy program and help provide funds for the training of community volunteers as instructors. The mission of Roots of Empathy is to build caring, peaceful and civil societies, child by child, through the development of empathy in children.
Nelson Go GirlsNelson Rural students recently participated in the Go Girls Festival held at the Golden Hawk. A number of activities and games were played and the girls enjoyed the fun filled day!! A big thank you to Mrs. Pugh and Ms. Pritchard fo leading this wonderful group!

Daryn D. and Layne W. are all smiles as they competed at the District 16 Oratory Contest at Dr. Losier on Thursday May 3rd 2011. Their performances were outstanding and as a result Layne was awarded 3rd place! Congratulations girls on a terrific job!

May 9th to 11th from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm.
Family Night is May 11th from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm.
May 12th from 9:00 am - 1:00 pm.

The winners of the event were Rae J. 3rd place, Daryn D. 2nd place, and Layne W. 1st place. Mrs. Hawkes and everyone on staff at Nelson Rural would like to send out a big congratulations to all those who participated!!
Congratulations to the Nelson Rural School Grade 5 Floor Hockey Team as they Defeated Gretna Green yesterday in the Championship Game by a score of 6-4. Head coach Ms. Mackenzie lead her troups to victory and is commended for her leadership.

The Grand Finale of the Elementary PBL clusters is almost here. It will be held on April 28th 2011, from 6:30- 8:30 pm. We will be displaying work of elementary students and some work of grade 6 and 7 students. There will be tickets for sale for an eco- friendly Spring Basket and we will have entertainment. There will also be a light lunch. Doran’s Bottle Exchange and Recycling will be our guest speaker.
