Today marks our final day together in the classroom. We have had so much fun this year. I hope everyone enjoys the rest of Grade 1! Thank you to all my students and their parents/guardians for the wonderful time we have had together.

Today we spent some extra time outside. We had lots of fun building a snowman together, a few miniature snowmen and getting active on the playground!

On Wednesday we had the pleasure of joining the Maritime Centre for African Dance ladies. They taught us facts about Africa, dance moves and drumming techniques. It was a great experience. The students loved it!

Happy First Day of Spring!!
This is what is happening this week in Grade 1:
Dress for the weather: please continue to send in an extra bag for the students to put their wet and dirty (muddy) clothing in at the end of the day. It would also be a good idea to send in extra mitts.
Library: we go to the library tomorrow. Make sure you return your book so you can sign out another for the week to come. Please send back all books.
Homework:
Fundraiser: all pledge money was due on March 2nd. If you have not already sent it in, please do so ASAP.
World Down Syndrome Day: tomorrow, March 21st is World Down Syndrome Day. Please wear unique socks (bright, mismatched, striped, polka dots, etc.) to start a conversation and show your love and support.
No School: there is no school for students on Friday, March 24th. It is a Professional Learning Day for teachers.
Water Bottles: please send the students to school with a water bottle each day.

Tuesday, March 21st is World Down Syndrome Day. Please wear your most unique socks! Bright colours, mismatched, stripes, etc.

We created our own 4-leaf clovers on Saint Patrick's Day. The students followed a directed drawing and then coloured the clover with pastels. They then could decorate the background with various Shamrock shapes. Great work Grade 1!

We made Leprechaun traps with our table groups. The students got very creative and thoroughly thought about their traps. We weren't able to catch the sneaky fella... however, he did play some tricks on us and left us a little treat!

We celebrated our friend Danika today, who turned 7 years old over the break. Happy birthday Danika!! Have a fantastic year!!
