I recently issued the students a journal prompt in which I asked them to think of 5 things they want to do in this lifetime.  I apologize if the request was innappropriate for the age level.  My motivation for the assignment was only to get to know the students better.  In a class of 25, I take every opportunity I can to get to know them.  The discussion in the classroom prior to the assignment, was in no way about death - just about what the kids wanted to do.  Again, I'm sorry if I have caused your children any worry or if I have caused you, their families, discomfort.   Mrs. McLean
