Here are some important reminders and updates for our class this week!

Library: we will be going to the library tomorrow. Please return your library book to make sure you can take a new one home with you for the week. 

Lunch Orders: friendly reminder when a student is ordering their lunch, I would ask that you write down what the student would like to have, put the money and their order in a baggie and place the bag in the child's agenda or 'bring back' 'take home' folder. Thank you! 

Homework: please continue to read one levelled book each night and log the book you read. Sight words are to be practiced daily, when students can read the sight words quicky, please sign the sheet and return it to school. My ABC book, letter tracing, please make sure you are tracing the letters with your finger. Focus on the letters that the student does not know at first. When students are confident with naming the letters and the sounds consistently, please let me know and I will send home sight words. Continue to play one math game each night. Math games can be played more than once. I would ask that you make sure to return the levelled books on Friday of each week. 

  • It is important to send the agenda and 'bring back' 'keep home' folder to school each day. 

Home and School Fundraiser: the orders for the cookie dough fundraiser are due tomorrow, November 15th. 

Jersey Day:  National Jersey Day will be held on Thursday, November 17th. Please wear a jersey if you can to show your support. 

No School: there is no school for students on Friday, November 18th. 

Warm Clothing:  please come to school prepared for the change in weather. It has been chilly. Warm sweaters, coats, hats and mitts would be stronlgy encouraged from now on.

Remembrance Day Ceremony at School: the school Remembrance Day Ceremony will be held on Thursday, November 10th at 10:00AM. It is asked that only one guest per student attends due to our limited seating in the gym. Thank you for understanding! 

Remembrance Day- No School: there is no school on Friday, November 11th. Please take this time to honour and think of all the brave men and women who fought for the peace and freedom we have today. 

Home and School Fundraiser: the Home and School is selling cookie dough, muffin mixes and spreads for a school fundraiser. The students went home with the information and fundraiser sheets.  

Water Bottles: please bring a water bottle each day.

Halloween Treats: please note that our school is a nut free school. It is important that you check the snacks the students are bringing, to ensure they are not taking anything with them that contain nuts.

Spirit Week: this week is Spirit Week, October 24th-28th! There is a themed day that staff and students can participate in daily.  

  • Monday, October 24th- Black & Orange Day
  • Tuesday, October 25th- Plaid Day 
  • Wednesday, October 26th- Crazy Sock/Hair Day
  • Thursday, October 27th- Dress Like Your Teacher Day
  • Friday, October 28th- Halloween Costume/ Halloween Shirt Day 

On Friday, we will be participating in the Halloween Costume Parade in the gym in the afternoon. 

If the students wish to carve or decorate a pumpkin at home and enter it in the school contest, it needs to be at the school by Tuesday, October 25th.

Next week (October 24th-28th), there will be a pumpkin contest to start off spirit week. Students are invited to bring in their own pumpkins from home on Monday (October 24th) or Tuesday (October 25th). Students can decorate a pumpkin or carve it, there will be two categories. Later in the week, students will vote on their favourites (1 carved, 1 decorated) and prizes will be given to the person with the most votes from each level.

Students are asked to play one math game each night. I would ask that you make sure to return the levelled books on Friday. 

Heart Healthy Schools Challenge: this week (October 18th- 21st), the Heart Healthy Schools Challenge is to eat fruits and vegetables for our recess snack. Each time a student has a healthy snack (fruit or vegetable), our class will be given a point. Try to bring in at least one each day! 

Fire Prevention Safety Gazette:  in the booklet that was given to us by the Miramichi Fire Department, which was sent home with all students. There is a form that can be filled out and sent back to school for a chance to be Fire Chief for the Day. If you wish to be entered in the draw, please make sure to return the form.

Walk for Wenjack:  in the spirit of ReconciliACTION and in support of Chanie Wenjack and all the Indigenous children who did not return home from Residentital Schools, we will be walking for Wenjack on Friday. Spirit Week: next week, October 24th- October 28th, will be our first spirit week of the year. There is a themed day that staff and students can participate in daily.

Thursday, September 29th: Orange Shirt Day. Please wear orange. 

Thursday, September 29th: Last day to pre-order the Thanksgiving meal.

Friday, September 30th: No School. National Day for Truth and Reconciliation Day.

Student fees are $10 a student or $40 a family. Please send money in when you can, if you have not already.
