Grade 8 students:     1. Permission slips and $5.00 (must be in by June 6th)   -Fundy Park/The Rocks Trip Grade 8H-8M   2. PROVINCIAL L.Arts testing -June 1st (Wednesday)               8H-8M and 7H-7M Language Arts 1. Read novel- comprehensive test June 9th 2. Students must complete the assigned work/tasks in class each day     -if work is not finished it becomes homework!   8M Social Studies 1. Unit test on Thursday, June 2nd   7M Social Studies 1. Reviewed for test today 2. Test scheduled for Thursday, June 2nd

HOMEWORK May 25th Wednesday

8H-8M Language Arts 1. Novel Unit  Cowboys Don't Cry begun yesterday (books in baggies) 2. Novel must be read by June 9th (AR testing)    (16 days-20 chapters -at least two chapters per day-LOTS of time!!) 3. (8M)-Complete working with the poem using the strategy sheet   7M Language Arts 1. Begin novel today The Hand of Robin Squires 2. Poetry review "The Pirate Don Dirk of Dowdee"     -complete working with the poem following the strategy sheet 3. Novel must be completed for June 9th-AR testing      Read every night and every class reading period-   7H Language Arts 1. Complete K-W-L Chart for pirates 2. Read the poem "Pirate Don Dirk of Dowdee" and     complete each part of the strategy sheet.

HOMEWORK April 18th Monday

7H-7M and 8H-8M Language Arts 1. Speeches are being presented this week! 2. Those who are not prepared for their presentation date      are penalized marks, and moved to the end of the speaker's list. 3. Those students interested in  the "Speak-off" April 26th must     meet with me by Wednesday April 20th. Decisions on speakers     will be made by Thursday!

HOMEWORK April 13th Wednesday

7H-7M and 8H-8M Language Arts 1. SPEECHES- final copy, with formal title page and sources page                           due Friday, April 15th 2. Each student had the opportunity to meet with me today in class (computer lab)     to check that their sources page was in order (not everyone chose to check) 3. Each student has been assigned their presentation date for the speech     (Dateswere drawn in class April 11th, for presenting April 18, 19, 20,or 21) 4. Refer to "how to deliver a speech" notes for practice suggestions!

Students received a revision checklist for their speech     -they are to revise the speech and prepare their FINAL copy to be      submitted on Friday, April 15th     -students selected their presentation date today in class     -Not being prepared to present on their date       will mean ( -10) for each time they are asked to present and are unprepared     -classtime is at a premium!   Social Studies 7M-8M-8H 1.
