This week, in the spirit of reconciliation, and in support and acknowledgement of Indigenous children who attended residential schools and never returned home, Nelson Rural School staff and students will be walking for Wenjack. Our loose change campaign for the rest of this month will go to this cause. Anyone outside our building can donate using the following link.
Nelson Rural Staff and Students will be wearing orange shirts on Thursday, September 29th in the spirit of reconciliation and in honour and support of Indigenous children who attended residential schools. Please note, Friday, September 30th is a National Day for Truth and Reconciliation so there will be no school on Friday.
So extremely proud to say that two of our Nelson Rural students are in the running for Canada’s Young Citizen National Competition! They need your votes! One vote per email address. Voting is open now! Please go to Young Citizens Canada’s History and search province for New Brunswick. Then scroll down to Isabella Breau and Sydney Stewart (please be sure to vote for both girls separately).
Nelson Rural School was once again recognized by the Heart and Stroke Foundation due to our participation with the Heart Healthy Schools Program. We have completed all challenges thus far and are currently working towards the Be Active Challenge.
