The K-2 classes celebrated the 100th Day of School on Monday March 11th! We had lots of fun working on different activities related to the number 100. We worked together to collect 100 items for the Food Bank and when we counted them all up, we had 136 items! In the gym we did 100 exercises and sat quiet for 100 seconds. We also made the number 100 using all the K-2 students. Each student brought in a collection of 100 things and we went to each class to see all the collections. They were awesome! Together we made a quilt about 100 Reasons Why We Love Our School!

The bedtime reading challenge is set to begin!  K-3 students at Nelson Rural School have been challenged to read a bedtime story every night from now until April 12th.  That’s ONE MONTH.  If we meet or exceed the challenge, students will win a party with a Canadian author like Sheree Fitch, David Adams Richards, or Wayne Curtis.  There are 3 ways to participate:  1) Tune into Life Radio(96.5) at 7:30 every night and listen to a story 2)Log on to Tumblebooks on the NB public library and listen/follow along with a book of your choosing or 3) Cuddle up as a family and read together.

Miramichi hosted the Special Olympics over the weekend. We had the opportunity to cheer on a team on Friday at MVHS. Our grade 2 and grade 6 french immersion classes sponsored the Acadian Pennisula Team in cheering them on during a couple of their floor hockey games on Friday. It was a wonderful opportunity for our students and staff. Our students had a great time cheering on the athletes and got autographs as well on their signs.
