Nelson Rural School was once again recognized by the Heart and Stroke Foundation due to our participation with the Heart Healthy Schools Program. We have completed all challenges thus far and are currently working towards the Be Active Challenge.
Our middle school girls basketball team captured the Tier 2 banner this year. It was a hard fought battle against the Gretna Green Gators, and very close game throughout. This Thursday, March 23rd, the girls will be challenging our middle school boys team to a scrimmage as we welcome back face to face assemblies. Let's Go Raiders!
Our Liter-Action Fundraiser was a success again this year. Our Students raised almost $14 000 for Student Council. This money goes directly back to the students in the form of field trips, uniforms and referees for sports, outdoor play equipment, and other special treats throughout the year. Our top seller this year was Charlotte in 1H. All students received an ice cream treat and a Nelson reuseable bag. Thank you to all who donated.
Nelson Rural will have a Spirit Week next week leading up to the March Break. Wednesday we will finally complete our Literaction Prize Draw. Let's boost our spirits and have a little fun while learning this week!
Wendesday, February 23rd, is Pink Shirt Day. We are encouraging everyone to choose kindness, always. On this day, we will wear our pink shirts in an effort to promote awareness and continue to educate ourselves on how to stop bullying now.
