As a school district, ASD-N recognizes that our students may be having a difficult time adjusting to the effects and changes related to COVID-19. This is a serious situation, one we have never faced before, and students may have questions or need help processing all that is happening in their lives right now. Or maybe students are missing their school resource supports, or are struggling with not having their daily school routine. ASD-N wants to provide support to our students, and offer access to our Educational Support Services team.
A big congratulations to one of our grade 8 students, Paige Barrieau who is the winner of the Team Canada Women's World's "Design a mask" contest. This was a Canada-wide contest with four finalists. Paige was the winner of a trip for 4 to halifax to watch the women's world championship game and will be receiving an autographed replica goalie mask of her winning design along with a Team Canada Jersey and a prize pack from Jane's. We would like to thank everyone for voting! Great accomplishement, Paige!
Our students at Nelson Rural enjoyed some Winter Wellness these past couple of weeks building snowman, creating cardboard sleds, skiing, sliding and snowshoeing! Staff and students enjoyed the wonderful weather and everyone took part in some winter fun!
A successful 7th annual Nelson Rural Winter Classic hockey game with our Nelson Rural middle school students on Friday Feb. 11. Yet another display of great sportsmanship. Thanks again to parent Darryl Sullivan for going between the pipes.
Congratulations to our three button design winners at all three levels! They did a wonderful job and received 2 free buttons of their own design. We will be having a school wide vote this week to see which button will be our School button and will be available for purchase! Proceeds will go back to the Maker Space to purchase new equipment and resources.
Thank you to all students who participated! We had 85 entries!
