Good Morning Grade 2!

I hope that everyone had a wonderful weekend and found some time to have fun! We are off to a chilly start, but it is forecasting a nice day with warmer temperatures and maybe some snow later in the day!

Here are some activities you can work on today.

Orange Homework Books

  • Read – Choose a book to read from the reading bag. Use your strategies to help with the reading and record the on the log sheet.
  • Spelling – Week 8 - The focus this week is on the /o/ and /e/ vowel sounds that say their  own name in shorter words. Go over the words, practice spelling them out loud.
  • Word Work – Sheet – Blends – Look at each picture and say the word. What blend do you hear at the beginning? Choose 2 of the words and write a  sentence for each one. Tell good details and begin and end your sentence the right way.

Home Learning Pack – Week 2

  • Math – Warm Up – Count and Move! – Put on a Jack Hartman Video, or count and move on your own.
  • Math – Sheet – Colour By Code – Sums to 10 – Put in all of your answers first. Then use the code to colour each space. This is good practice for using your strategies.
  • Math Game – Try Snowman Bump or Math Card Game  - Odd & Even; This one is in the purple Folder on the Math Card and Dice Games Board, in Your Home Learning Kit that was sent home at the beginning of the year.
  • Writing – Main Idea – Winter – Sheet – Put a title on the top line. Make sure you have a good opening sentence; tell at least 6 good, detailed sentences about winter; have a good ending sentence. Just do half today and then continue tomorrow. Think about what you like about winter first; use the words on the bottom to help with your writing; draw and colour a detailed picture to go with it.
  • Read – Share a story book with someone at home or share one from Tumble Books. The link and passwords are on the class page.

Calendar and Weather

  • Go over the calendar and weather. There is a calendar page added to the Documents section on the class page, or you might have a calendar at home to use.
  • Check the weblink for the weather. Compare the temperatures for the next 7 days. What is the high? What is the low?

Technology/On-Line Programs

  • If you have access to a device and have some extra time, you can log on to Squiggle Park or Dream Box Math and play.
  • Codes are on the front cover of your agendas if you have them home. If not, I e-mailed them to you. Let me know if there is any trouble accessing them.

Home Learning Kits

  • Just a reminder that you can also use materials from the Home Learning Kit that was sent home at the beginning of the year if you are looking for extra activities.
  • There are lots of math games you can play with your family too.

Outdoor Play/Physical Activity

  • It is supposed to be warmer as the day goes on, so try to get outside, enjoy some fresh air and play!
  • Check Mrs. Dickson’s page for some fun Phys. Ed activities.

STEAM Time

  • I have added a STEAM Choice Board under the Documents Tab. Try to do 1 activity during the week.

ASD-N Cross-Curricular BINGO Card

  • I have added a BINGO Card with lots of different activities to try from our ASD-N Leads.
  • You might find some activities here that you would like to try out.

Photos

  • Send along pictures of any of the activities you do. I would love to see them and will add them to our class page to share with the rest of the class.

I am available throughout the day by e-mail or phone if you have any questions or need support with activities.  I am here to help, so please reach out for anything you need.  lisa.sullivan@nbed.nb.ca    627-4074
