Good Morning Grade 2!

It looks like today will be a much warmer day, compared to the temperatures we had! We are expecting some snow, maybe it will be snowman making snow! I hope that everyone enjoyed their day yesterday.

Here are some activities you can work on today.

Orange Homework Books

  • Read – Choose a book to read from the reading bag. Use your strategies to help with the reading and record the on the log sheet.
  • Read – Share a story book with someone at home or share one from Tumble Books. The link and passwords are on the class page.
  • Spelling – Test - Week 7 Words – Use the test sheet in your pack and have someone call out the words for you. Spell them on the sheet. Good luck!!
  • Math – Sheet – Counting With Money – Count how much money is in each row and put your answer on the line. Count by 10s starting at 8 and going to 108.

Home Learning Pack – Week 1

  • Word Work – Blends – Sheet – Read and Highlight – Read the sentences. Then highlight the words with the /sh/ sound. When you are done read the /sh/ words to someone at home. There is a highlighter in your pack.
  • Math – Warm Up – Count and Move! – Put on a Jack Hartman Video, or count and move on your own.
  • Math – Facts – Pick one set of facts from the orange sheet and work on them. Knowing your facts will help with adding and subtracting.
  • Math Game – Try Snowman Bump or Math Card Game 10 Up; This one is in the purple Folder in Your Home Learning Kit that was sent home at the beginning of the year.
  • Writing – How To Build A Snowman – Organization – Step By Step Instructions. How do you make a snowman? What steps do you take? How would you tell someone, who never made a snowman before? Yesterday, you were  working on the first 2 steps. Today you can do steps 3 & 4 and finish the sheet. Add good details and make sure you tell things in order. Draw and colour a picture for each step in the boxes. Use the snowman word sheet to help with your writing.

Calendar and Weather

  • Go over the calendar and weather. There is a calendar page added to the Documents section on the class page, or you might have a calendar at home to use.
  • Check the weblink for the weather. Compare the temperatures for the next 7 days. What is the high? What is the low?

Technology/On-Line Programs

  • If you have access to a device and have some extra time, you can log on to Squiggle Park or Dream Box Math and play.
  • Some students still have their agendas at home and the codes and passwords are taped on the inside cover.
  • Those who don’t have their agendas, I emailed the codes and passwords. If I missed someone , please let me know.

Home Learning Kits

  • Just a reminder that you can also use materials from the Home Learning Kit that was sent home at the beginning of the year if you are looking for extra activities.
  • There are lots of math games you can play with your family too.

Outdoor Play

  • It is supposed to be a nice day, so try to get outside, enjoy some fresh air and play!
  • Check Mrs. Dickson’s page for some fun Phys. Ed activities.

STEAM Time

  • I have added a STEAM Choice Board under the Documents Tab. Try to do 1 activity during the week.

Photos

  • Send along pictures of any of the activities you do. I would love to see them and will add them to our class page to share with the rest of the class.
