Hi Everyone!
Welcome back! I hope you had a fun weekend!
Just a reminder that the days are getting cooler. Please make sure you are dressed for the weather. It would be a good idea to have a hat and mittens or gloves in your bookbag, so they are there if you need them.
Fundraiser - Our Liter-Action Activity Day will be held on Monday November 22nd. Students will be reading and physically active throughout the day. If you did not return your pledge sheet yet, make sure you bring it in on Monday morning. Let's Go Raiders!! Monday will also be School Colours Day.
Phys. Ed - Our Phys. Ed days this week are Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.
Library - Our library day is on Thursday. Make sure you bring your book back so you can sign out another one.
Homework/Reading - The homework for the week is listed in the orange folders. Our spelling words this week focus on the short /o vowel sound and the word work activity is on this as well. The writing activity is using the pictures to write detailed sentences. Make sure your sentences begin and end properly and see if you can use some of this week's spelling words in your sentence. In Math we are starting to work on mental math strategies and counting by 5s to 50/ 2s to 30 and 1s to 30. Make sure you read each night, use your strategies to help and record the book on your log sheet.
Literacy - We continue with our spelling units and focus on vowels and word work activities using the spelling words. Keep working on the sight word lists until you can read all words. This will help with your reading and writing too. We are building on our reading strategies and reading every day to improve our skills. In writing we are gradually buiding on the amount we write, making sure we have a good beginning, tell good details about our topic and have an ending sentence. A detailed picture can add to our writing too.
Math - We have started working on representing numbers in different ways, using money, mental math strategies and counting by 5s, 10s starting at different numbers and 2s starting at 1. We will be working on ways to make 10, doubles, 1 more/ 1 less and 2 more/ 2 less. I will send home a strategies sheet that you can use at home.
Have a wonderful week!
