Home Learning - November 10th.

Posted: November 10, 2021

Good Wednesday Morning, 3H! I hope everyone is doing well! :) As I'm sure you know, tomorrow is Remembrance Day. Today's home learning will focus on the importance of November 11th.

POPPY DID YOU KNOW?

1. The poppy is 100 years old.

2. Poppies grew on the battlefields.

3. The first poppies were made of silk.

4. We wear a poppy to remember.

5. The poppy inspired Canadian doctor John McCrae to write his famous poem "IN FLANDERS FIELDS".

6. The money collected from buying poppies helps veterans in need of wheelchairs and other medical necessities.

7. It is very important to wear a poppy from November 1st.-November 11th.

Please work in your Remembrance Day booklet. You might like to colour the cover. Practice reading the Remembrance Day word list. You may need help with the crossword but once you get the hang of it, you'll do great! :) Do as much as you can! I'd love to get pictures of the badge and coin for our Teacher Page.

Also, there are some great books on You Tube to listen to. Web links in separate posts.

1. The Poppy Story

2. The Soldier's Puppy

3. The Bantam and the Soldier

4. Bunny The Brave War Horse

Take care. I will post again on Friday. :)

Love, Ms. Hackett
