November 3rd- Home Learning

Posted: November 3, 2021

Good morning! I hope everyone had a fun Tuesday and got outside to enjoy the sunshine!

Here is what I would like everyone to work on today:

Writing: Tell the story of how you met one of your friends: (Make a list of your friends’ names, then circle or highlight one friend’s name and tell the story of how you met). If you have access to a technological device and prefer to type, I have attached a word document you could use to complete your writing assignment. You can send them to me at abby.sullivan@nbed.nb.ca, I would love to hear your stories!

*If you do not have a technological device, or prefer to write your story, that is fine too. Just remember to keep your writing pieces together and bring them to school with you when we go back to school.

Reading: Please listen to the story, Something Good by Robert Munsch on Tumblebooks. When you are finished listening to the story, take the quiz.

Website: TumbleBooks - eBooks for eKids! (tumblebooklibrary.com)

(Username: nblib  Password: nbschools)

I would like you to read another book or books of your choice for 20 minutes. When you are finished reading, think of what you just read. Who were the characters? What was the main message of the story? Was there an issue/conflict? If so, how was it resolved? How did the story end?

*Make sure to keep track of the books you are reading in your log.

Math: Warm up- Practice counting by 2’s to 50, 3’s to 36 & 5’s to 60 out loud to someone. When you are done that, try it backwards. Write it down, draw it out or use counters of some sort if that helps you!

Picture Math: Please work on the picture math sheet in your ‘Home Learning’ packet. Remember to bring this back to school with you when we go back.

Choose one of the following… (Dreambox or Math Game)

Dreambox (20 minutes): You can sign in to your Dreambox account and work on your assigned lessons. Let me know if you can’t access your login information, but it should be in your ‘Home Learning’ packet.

Games: Play a math related game with someone. Such as: a card game, Battleship, Chess, Yahtzee, counting objects around your house, or measuring objects around your house.

STEAM: Choose one of the following options.

1)    Head outside and collect any materials you can find (sticks, leaves, rocks, acorns… to name a few) and create your dream house. Use your imagination!

2)    Create a bridge out of any materials that you can find outside in nature. (Branches, rocks, rope). Be creative!

3)    Make a real-life design or picture outside with the materials that you have access to. (Rocks, leaves, grass, sticks… to name a few). Have fun with it!

If possible, please send a picture of what you have created. I would love to see what you all came up with!

Enjoy your day grade four! Make sure to get outside for a good portion of the day to run, skip, hop, jump, and explore. Have fun!

Please reach out if there are any questions or if I can assist in any way. I can be contacted at abby.sullivan@nbed.nb.ca

Have a good day!
