Kinder Korner News Nov.23-27

Posted: November 22, 2020

Hi there.I hope you had a fantastic weekend together and are eager to beginning the last week of November at school.Throughout the week please work on the following activities:

Picture Retakes\Sibling pictures are Monday, Nov.23rd.

Read your Borrow-a-Book and the "Who Am I ?" book. Read one book each night. Point to each word as you read. Look at the beginning letter of each unknown word, sound out letters to help identify the word. Use the pictures to help solve the word.Print your name on the reading log and return your books on Thursday.Happy Reading!!!!!

In Math, we will keep working on identifying numbers that come before or after a given number. We have been doing activitiies and games in class. Practice this skill using a dice.Have your child roll a dice and tell you the number that comes before the number they rolled. ex. if you roll a 3 the number that comes before is 2. Do this for 10 rolls and then ask them to identify the number that comes after the number rolled. ex. Roll a 5, the number that comes after is 6.

Zoo-Phonics- The children are doing a great job with identifying letters and sounds. Please continue to review all Zoo-phonics actions/ letters/sounds this week.

Rockstar Sight Word List 1- Continue to review these words with your child. If your child can say all the words quickly, please sign the sheet and send it back to class. I will test your childs knowledge and if they know them quickly, I will send home a new sheet. The children will recognize these sight words in their borrow-a-books. When you see one or more of the sight words in a book have your child point to it on the page.Remember, children learn at differnet levels, so take your time with these words.

Library- We have library on Tuesday. Please return your book in order to sign out a new one. You may keep the book for the week

Phys. Ed. ClassesWe have gym class on Wednesday,Thursday and Friday. Wear comfy clothes to run and play.

As we enter the last week of November the colder weather is here. Please wear warmer coats, boots, hats and mittens\gloves. A good skill for your child to practice at home is zippering, snapping or buttoning their coat and putting on gloves. This task can be tricky for some children. Practice will develop independence, give your child a sense of pride,"I did it!!" and strengthen the muscles in their hands. Thanks for your support!!

Have a fantastic week at Kindergarten. I can't wait to see everyone, I missed you all! Mrs. Sullivan-Goguen
