Happy Monday, everyone!Another week has passed and winter is certainly here. Please pack an extra pair of, mittens\gloves,pants and socks in your bookbag just in case you get a little wet from playing in the snow. For homework this week, please complete the following...

Literacy- Please read your Borrow-A-Books each night. We have  3 books this week. Two books are levelled readers and one is a paper copy sight word book, "The Snowman".The children have coloured and read this book in class.Be sure to read at least 1 or 2 of your 3 books each night. Please continue to read the ABC Letter Tracing Book, especially if your child continues to work on  recognizing some letters and sounds. As students read their three books, have them point to each word and stop at the period.Use the pictures for cues to help identify the words. Students should be recognizing some familiar sight words like: I,am, see, a, the, to, at, go,like,me. Please remember to fill in the reading log each night and have your child print their name. Please return all books, even the student coloured books to class. The children use these books in their Reads-to Self book bags. Please return books in the borrow-a-book bag,on Friday. Thanks!

Rock Star Words- Some children have brought home a sight word list. Please review your word list this week. When your child knows all words quickly. Please sign the sheet and return it to class. I will test your childs knowledge and send the next list home. Don't worry if your does not have a word list. We are reviewing words daily in class and once your child consistently recognizes a few words in print, I will send a list home with them.

Math- Play "Snowy Bump" dice game this week. The game will be sent home on Monday.I would love for the children to play the game a couple of times throughout the week. We have been having fun playing in class. You will need a die and some counters to play.We use unifix cubes in class, but lego pieces would work great because you have to stack two pieces on top of each other to lock your counter in places. If you don't have a die at home, please print the numbers 1-6 on a piece of paper, cut out the numbers and put in a baggie. Players pick a number and put it back in the baggie after they move their counter. Player 2 then picks a number from the baggie. This works just as good as a die. Once all numbers on the game board have a locked counter, the game is over. The player with the most locked counters wins.A copy of the game and rules will be sent home and can also be found under documents, on this page.Have fun!!

Library- The children love to visit the library every Thursday. They like to look and choice a fun book to read with their family. Students will keep their book for the week and return it the following Thursday in their library bag.If your child forgets their book, please send it in the next day.I will send home the new book they signed out.Happy Reading!

Phys. Ed. Classes - We have gym classes every Tuesday,Thursday and Friday. Please dress in comfortable clothes, ready to run, play and have fun.

Water bottles- Remember to pack your water bottle each day.

Excited for a fun week in Kindergarten.Smile and be good to each other :) Mrs. Sullivan-Goguen
