Week 2

Homeroom -

All initial forms have been returned, thank-you. We will be going to Fletcher's Farm on Sept. 26. Students are asked to bring in $3 to help offset the cost.

Last week was another busy week. We have been working hard at setting routine and procedures and developing good computer habits. 

All classes have started a unit. 

Grade 6 – The Sharing Circle ` Stories about first Nations Culture 

Grade 7 – Refugee  

Students have chosen a Character from the book that they will focus on.  

Assignment #1 – Journal – students are to write journal entries from the perspective of their character, keeping the time-period and culture in mind. 

Grade 8 

Tue / Thur – Reading Workshop Days – Students will be assigned a time relevant essay from Newsela.com to read then complete a multiple-choice test to measure comprehension and a short answer question to demonstrate their connection to the piece. 

Book Genre Book Report and Book Talk – We are starting off slowly with picture books. Students need to read 5 books and be prepared to do a 2-sentence book talk by Wednesday.
