This week, for the Dreambox site, continue to look for lessons marked by the blue calendar with the blue star. I would encourage you to try to finish one lesson, before moving to the next. New lessons are added to accommodate those who have finished and are ready to move on. As always, do what you can and have fun!

Activities to try for Tuesday/Thursday:

1. Addition of Fractions: Search or follow the link  www.mathplayground.com under games,

a. Scroll down and click on the orange "More Fraction Games"

b. Scroll down close to the bottom of the page to the blue heading Videos- Fractions and Decimals

c. Click on the first video "How do you add fractions?" This video will remind you how to add fractions. Once you have watched, you can go back and try the addition of fractions game "Speedway Fractions".

d. Under the Cranium Challenges section, click on Add Fractions and it will take you to the game. Enjoy, but remember to watch for answers given in simplest form!  :)

2.Fraction Dice game:

You will need a pair of dice, a partner (or two or three!), a paper and pencil to record your totals.

a. Decide what the end goal will be - do you want to add until you get a total of 3?,  5? , 10? The higher the total, the longer the game may go, You decide!

b. Each player tosses the dice, then creates and records a proper fraction. (ex. rolling a 1 and a 3, creates 1/3)

c. On the next roll, add your new fraction to the previous fraction. (if you roll doubles, remember 5/5= 1 so you would now have a mixed number when you continue adding.)

ex. 1+1/3 = 1 1/3

c. Continue adding each new fraction to the previous. The first palyer to reach the goal wins! Give it a try!  :)
