North and South Esk Elementary student Avery Hiemstra has just been awarded first place in the 'Junior Essay' category of The Royal Canadian Legion’s National Literary Contest. Avery was recognized for her writing proficiency and her ability to clearly evoke a strong sense of Remembrance in her work in a congratulatory letter from Dominion President Thomas Irvine, sent on behalf of the Royal Canadian Legion.

National Indigenous Peoples Day is this Sunday, June 21st.
It is a day for Indigenous Peoples to celebrate and showcase who they are, and a day of prayer to give thanks.
It is important to recognize the many contributions of the First People of this land, and to celebrate their culture and identity.

This is a big week for the graduates of ASD-N's eight high schools. Although celebrations won't look like they have in the past, each school has found unique ways to honour this group of graduating students.

A CBC News story about Miramichi Valley High School and their Special Olympians has won the national RTDNA award! The story, which originally aired in February 2019, won the Adrienne Clarkson Award for diversity for all of Canada. The ASD-N Virtual Olympics will take place over 10 days, May 25-29 and June 1-5. Each day will consist of 3 activities. The Virtual Olympics are open to any ASD-N students and their family members. Events can be done as many times as desired, just take the best result. Results of events can be recorded on the scorecard that will be provided and can then be submitted via a Microsoft form at the end of each of the two weeks.Read more
