Grade 7- Just a few presentations left for tomorrow's class. Bring your colored pencils. We will be decorating placemats for the Christmas dinner with a nice little French message for our guests.

Grade 8 French- Just a few students have to finish their newspaper article on fashion trends from a specific era. The rest of the class can continue to work on their placemats for the Christmas dinner. See you tomorrow.

Gr. 7P- You are to find images needed to help guide you through the oral presentation on "une phénomène étrange". Save images in a logical order for your presentation. Put images on your memory stick.

Gr. 8B's- You need to finish the draft copy of your fashion article. We have the lab tomorrow totype the article.

Just a quick update on expectations for the next few weeks:

Grade 7- You are to finish the questionaire describing the phénomène étrange that you will be presenting for your classmates. If you have a home computer, go ahead and copy images that you can use for the oral presentation.

Grade 8- We are now getting prepared for the 2nd mini projet: Les vêtements des années ____. You have your list of clothing prepared. Now you are to write in the format of a newspaper article a description of the clothing, footwear, accessories and hair styles that represent your chosen decade. You will need a snappy opening phrase to attract a reader to your article. We will work on these in class but go ahead and start this at home.

Grade 7 French- Please take time to think of your personal invention. For ex.  I will invent a clothing line that has chemical free bug repellant integrated into the clothing fiber. When a mosquito or black fly approaches me it will be zapped and die. Much like the zapper tennis rackets except it is integrated into the fiber of the clothing. My clothing line will be called,

Bugzzzz Off!

Grade 8 French- Disappointed that only 4 of you did your homework for the weekend. Please have ready for Thursday's class your solution on how to reduce the dangers associated with your chosen extreme sport. Keep in mind you will soon be drawing a comic strip to accompany your ideas.  See Friday for my example.

Please take time this weekend to find a solution to reduce the dangers associated with your extreme sport. Be creative. Remember my example for the extreme sport of Le Surf

I could wear a helmut or a surf suit that sensed danger and upon impact with water it turns into an inflatable suit-just like an airbag on a car. Have fun with this and have a great weekend.

Tomorrow's french class will be dedicated to presenting music from your assigned decade. Be ready to name a female and male singer as well as a popular group. Tell us about the group and name a few songs from each artist. Looking forward to hearing your presentations. See you tomorrow.

We haven't had a French class since before the Christmas concert so let's get an update:

You should have prepared by now, a mini presentation introducing us to famous music stars from the decade assigned to you in December. Be prepared to discuss a popular male singer, female singer and a well known music group or band from the decade. Mention a few big hits from each of theses musicians. See you tomorrow.

Thanks to all students for doing such a fantastic job with the Christmas concert. Parents and friends were so impressed with all performances. Once again you have made me so proud.  Special thanks to all members of the elementary and middle school Christmas drama club for putting in the time after school and noon times to work on our Christmas musical. I hope all of the grade 8 students stay involved in drama and music at JMH.

Elementary drama will resume practice on Tuesday January 9th. Enjoy a well deserved holiday.

Thanks to the grade 4 & 5 elementary students who participated in the music class challenge this year. Thanks to Parker, MacKenzie, Kathleen and Chloe (who was unfortunately absent due to illness for the final taping) for learning the metallophone parts. We will perform this song for parents at a concert later this year so all of the instrumentalists can show their stuff!  Our video is now uploaded onto youtube. Once on youtube click on CBC and type in Nelson Rural Both Sides Now and you will see and hear our performance.

Thanks to all students for your efforts at our annual Remembrance Day ceremony. Behaviour was excellent and all readers and singers did a fantastic job. I know our veterans were proud to be honored by the students and community members. Thanks to our Grade 8 students: Kate, Madison, Skylar, Jesse and Rebecca for your participation. We will miss your presence next year. Also thanks to our grade 7 students; Shaye, Avery, Mackenzie, Evan, Logan and Kayley for your participation. Hope to see you back next year. Thanks to miss Isabella Silver for singing a solo with the student chorus.  It was such a beautiful and touching moment to hear you sing for our veterans and your own father who is himself, a veteran of the wars in Afghanistan. Best of luck to your family as you move to Nova Scotia. Amelia, Isabella and Olivia;  we will miss you, dearly.
